Beneficiary of the week: Rosy Vision Multipurpose (Cooperative)
Five (5) young ladies from Katlehong in Johannesburg decided to join hands and establish a cooperative business called Rosy Vision Multipurpose after struggling to get employment. They decided to open a laundry business in the area after securing a lease agreement at one of the cooperative member’s home.
They realised that they needed capital to purchase all the necessary equipment for their laundry business and approached the NYDA Johannesburg Branch to enquire about the agency’s products and services that may assist them. They were enrolled in a Business Management Training where they learned the basic management skills. Upon completion, they were referred to the NYDA Branch at Maponya Mall in Soweto where they attended the Cooperative Governance Training programme and were funded with a total of R44 000.00 to purchase business equipment such as the industrial washing machines, dryers, etc.
“NYDA has helped us a lot now we are able to take more loads of laundry than before.  When we were using our hands to wash, we would take less baskets because we could only do so much.  With the procurement of industrial machines, we are now able to service many clients which is good for the business,” says one of the members of the cooperative.
The business now offers a full laundry service and hopes to expand to open more branches in the neighbouring townships such as Vosloorus and create jobs for other young people in the area.
