Minister Radebe offically launched and unveiled the name of the NYDA's Head Office
Minister in the Presidency, responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Jeff Radebe and the Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), Sifiso Mtsweni led a ceremony of the official launch of the name of the agency’s Head Office on Friday, 10 November 2017.
The ceremony followed a decision to honour the commitment and sacrifice of Tsietsi Mashinini, one of the frontline leaders of the Soweto Student Uprising of June 16, 1976. This august occasion was attended by members of the Mashinini family, friends, NYDA beneficiaries and stakeholders.
"After careful consideration, it was found appropriate to name this building after Tsietsi Mashinini, a student leader who played a pivotal role in the historic Soweto uprisings of June 1976. Now that the youth have a home at this Tsietsi Mashinini building, I expect a more vibrant interaction between the youth of our country and the NYDA."- Minister Jeff Radebe
