NYDA Beneficiary: Bloemfontein Culinary and Pastry School
The young and vibrant, Keamogetswe Thole from Bloemfontein in the Free State Province founded the Bloemfontein Culinary and Pastry School. The institute offers professional courses in pastry, food preparation and culinary techniques. Students can obtain qualifications such as a Certificate in Food Preparations and Cooking, Diploma in Patisserie and, Diploma Culinary Arts, as well Advanced Diploma from the School.
The 34-year-old received the NYDA Grant Funding to the value of R89 487, 54 to purchase equipment for the School. Since its inception in January 2018, BFN Culinary and Pastry School has enrolled 11 full-time students and it also hosts private clients for food preparations and cooking trainings. The institution has other income generating streams such as catering and hosting semester events for students. Keamogetswe Thole currently employs three people at her school.
The business has been a success and getting recognition from various institutions within the Free State. The School is accredited by CathsSETA, endorsed and recognised by FUNDI Finance and, City & Guilds. BFN Culinary and Pastry School holds membership at South African Chefs Association (SA Chefs).
