NYDA Beneficiary: Pitso Mototo
The 27-year-old young entrepreneur, Pitso Mototo from Botshabelo in the Free State Province, established Monate seasoning spice.
After engaging in online research, the young aspiring entrepreneur’s passion and sense of willingness grew as he became aware that the sector had less black-owned spice manufacturing businesses. Pitso was eager to fill the gap, and he eventually conducted market research in the nearest areas such as Thaba-Nchu and Botshabelo in Bloemfontein and, he was able to conclude that the business would become profitable.
He visited the NYDA Bloemfontein branch, where he enrolled in the Business Management Training which enabled him to apply for Grant Funding and he was approved R29972, 30 for stock and equipment. Prior to funding, the business was home-based and operating on a small scale. The client used his home kitchen to mix and process herbs and seasoning.
To date, the business has been able to meet and exceed its demand timeously. Pitso is currently renting out an office space where he has employed 11 interns. He has successfully penetrated the Botshabelo, Thaba-Nchu and Bloemfontein market. The business’ current clients involve 9 meat suppliers, 2 restaurants, 10 mobile kitchens and 1 Guest House.
