The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has partnered with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) in order to ensure that as many young people as possible gain access to funding to further their education at any public institution of higher learning in South Africa.


PURPOSE: The aim of this opportunity is to provide qualifying graduates an opportunity to gain practical work experience within the NYDA, while enhancing their employability levels.



  • Three-year post-matric qualification; National Diploma or Degree in Education, Communications/Public Relations, Psychology and Social Work.
  • Soft skills and fluent in the language of the community.
  • Sound communication; writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to grasp and learn complex concepts within a reasonable time.
  • Computer literacy.



  • Distribution of NSFAS Application Forms to prospective applicants at the NYDA offices/Local Youth Offices (LYOs), making sure that the applicant understands what is required in order to complete and submit an application form (which includes parent consent form, supporting documents etc.).
  • Providing of information to prospective applicants on NSFAS in terms of the types of funding provided by NSFAS based on the criteria for eligibility and any other information deemed critical.
  • Collection of completed based application forms at the LYO or the NYDA ensuring that all documents have been completed and included as part of the application.
  • Ensuring that the parents have both signed consent, that the student has signed consent and that the form has been completed in full (quality assurance as per checklist to be developed and included as part of the training.
  • Providing an acknowledgement of receipt to the student and logging of all received application forms. The boxing of the application forms for delivering to the NYDA branches for capture.
  • The capture of all application forms including the scanning and uploading of all supporting documents.
  • Assisting individual students who are coming to the NYDA offices to complete thir application online and/or via the use of mobile devices to complete the application.
  • Any other tasks that may be required in respect to the distribution, collection and capture of applications.


DURATION: 5-month contract from 15 July 2017 to 15 December 2017.

The Fund will pay a stipend of R 3 200.00 per month for the period of the opportunity (5 months), in order to cover cover travel costs and general subsistence.
