Youth Exhibition Fair
The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (Port Elizabeth) will host the 2012 Youth Day celebrations. This year, the approach will be different in that the Stadium will be converted into an “Exhibitions Galore Fair”, where youth-owned businesses and the private and public sector will have the opportunity to exhibit and showcase their products & services. The President of the Republic will address the attendees.
The main activities to commemorate Youth Month
The “Exhibition Galore” Fair will be held at the Wolfson Stadium, Kwa-Zakhele location, Port Elizabeth where we are targeting having as many as 20,000 - 25,000 people making their way to be exposed to the various youth-owned businesses.
The objectives of the Exhibition Fair:
•To commemorate the 36th anniversary of Youth Day, June 16 1976
•Youth-owned businesses to show-case their products & services
•Public, private & civil society to show-case their tangible programmes, and products & services aimed directly at youth
•A platform for the President to address those in attendance on youth development matters in the country and serve to motivate young people to take responsibility for their lives
•To educate the public about NYDA products and services and provide an update on NYDA achievements.
Stakeholders and partners that have been identified and will be approached for the event are:
•Youth-owned businesses
•Provincial Government, including Offices of Premiers
•Government departments
•Youth organisations
•Government agencies
•Private Sector & Civil Society
The day will end off with a Concert in the afternoon.
Through the Youth Fair, NYDA will be creating a platform for various hubs e.g. Banking hub, Telecommunications hub, Public sector hub, Civil Society hub, Mining Hub, Retail hub and Youth hub amongst many others. To make this a reality purchase a stand at this premier event. Major companies will be exhibiting their youth orientated programmes, products and services offerings. Youth will also be showcasing their own products and services offering. NYDA thereby sees this as a great opportunity for market linkages.
