Mr. Sibusiso Makhathini is a dedicated professional with a strong academic foundation and extensive experience in both public administration and advocacy. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Industrial Psychology and Management from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (2019) and a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Business Management from the University of South Africa.
With over five years of experience working in government departments, including the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Public Works and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport, Mr. Makhathini has developed expertise in finance, administration, and policy implementation. He currently serves as a Senior Administrative Clerk in the Finance Section at the KZN Department of Public Works, where he ensures efficient financial operations and compliance.
Beyond his professional role, Mr. Makhathini is a disability rights activist, passionately advocating for the inclusion, empowerment, and recognition of persons with disabilities. He has worked extensively with disability-focused organizations since his university years and played a key role in advancing youth and disability initiatives within the Department of Public Works.
Mr. Makhathini also contributes at a national level as a Board Member of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA). Within the board, he serves as Chairperson of the Committee on Disability and Transformation, and as a Member of both the Investment Committee and the Social and Ethics Committee, where he actively influences policies, strategies, and programmes aimed at fostering inclusivity, transformation, and sustainable youth development.
His career reflects a balance of public service, advocacy, and leadership, driven by a vision of creating an equitable society that values diversity and empowers marginalized groups, especially persons with disabilities.
