Profile of Wiseman Mbatha

Dr. Wiseman Mbatha is a Board Member of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and a Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at the University of Zululand. He brings extensive academic and practical expertise in youth development, community engagement, and policy analysis.
His scholarly contributions focus on social inclusion, ethical leadership, and rural development, with particular emphasis on advancing equity for marginalised groups and strengthening participatory governance in South Africa. Dr. Mbatha has actively contributed to community development initiatives and published works that interrogate the intersections of social justice and development practice.
He previously served as Stakeholder Manager at the City of Johannesburg, as a Researcher at UNISA’s Chief Albert Luthuli Research Chair, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Fort Hare, roles through which he reinforced his commitment to policy innovation, sustainable development, and the empowerment of disadvantaged communities.
